Father's Day Celebration

Father's day coincided with Canmore's Arts festival weekend. We were lucky enough to beable to take time on Sunday morning and take in a bit of art culture for the children.
We enjoyed a walk round the river and Heather walked most of the way.She really enjoys running towards you and then being picked up in the air.The only problem with that was that this day was that it was a "mummy day ",as opposed to a father's day!!! So I had to do all the lifting and twirling around .On " Mummy Days " it is all about "NO!...,Mummy dood it!!!" This ranges from pushing the trolley round the grocery store ,carrying Heather when she wants up, reading stories and not just reading stories...they have to be read where she wants them read ..be it in the middle of the kitchen floor ,or on her favourite seat at that particular time!!! Being father's day today ..maybe she wanted to give her dad the day off!!..Anyway she enjoyed running ,she enjoyed seeing the river and she enjoyed walking in the grass and seeing all the "lellow flowers"...lellow being Heather's word for yellow!!

We spend some time watching the street artists and enjoyed 'Bob the juggler' the most...he kept falling and Heather was really concerned about this .She really was mesmerised by the juggling balls and the balancing acts

Happy Birthday Daddy

"Happy Birthday To You"

So, James is another year older and the preparations for his card started early.Heather helped to make the card and did a good job at sticking all the letters and hearts on the card. We also made him his own special little birthday cake , which Heather ate most of herself.

We had a great day all together .It started by Heather proudly giving James his card and cake and then we had a nice breakfast. We then got ready to go to Kananaskis along HWY 40 to cycle the Highwood pass with our friends ,Sue and Eric. This is a mountain pass road which is closed to vehicles in the winter and is opened to traffic on the 15th June. So it is great to take advantage of the road with no cars and to really enjoy a family day out with beautiful scenery.

On our way up the highwood pass

We were lucky with the weather and the sun shone all day,it was still a cold wind , as you are still at a high elevation .So we cycled up to just short of the top of the pass and then enjoyed the cycle down, however , I found that I had to peddle on the down hills due to the wind!! That was a bummer ,having 5 weeks to go of the pregnancy. The whole thing took us 2 hours and then we stopped off at Kananaskis village for a sandwich and Heather enjoyed exploring the waterfall.

Later that evening we had the great company of our friends ,Sue and Eric .So all in all it was a pretty perfect day .It made us really appreciated where we live and made us think that we should have more of these family day outings.Life sometimes just gets too busy.....and I know it is about to get a whole lot busier in a few weeks time!!!!

Rainy Days and Puddles of June

Ever since our holiday in Peachland ,Heather has loved playing in the water .She has enjoyed it on sunny days on the back deck, playing with her bucket and pots ,trying to pour water from one container to the other and also pouring water down her trouser legs and onto her feet. She has also enjoyed it when it is pouring from the sky in the month of June. This is where she gets a little cofused as to what to wear when preparing for the wet days of June. The weather can sometimes be really hot and sunny ,but also June is renowned for being the wettest month of the year and probably the only month of the year that we wear our gortex rain coats, just as well mine has room for growth ,that Iam able to wear it while being 7 1/2 months pregnant.I am probably secretly glad that it is raining so much , as I don't have any other outer coat that would fit me at the moment .I am so looking forward to warmer weather and looking half decent in my summer mat clothes.
We were getting her ready to go out on one particularly wet day and we dressed her in the rain suit, but she insisted on choosing her summer cap and there was no going out of the house without it. She also wanted to put on a lovely pink pair of soft cowboy boots ( obviously to compliment the pink hat and not in the least bit waterproof. ) However we persuaded her to change them for her ducky boots once we got to the park and then she enjoyed playing in the puddles.

But these match my pink hat.

So I have been to my doctors this week for my 34 week check and everything is going to plan. She says that the baby is on the small side ...however so am I , and I would worry how it would get out if it were a large baby.Heather was the same and the two of us did just fine during the delivery. The last check up I hadn't had any weight gain and I think the doctor was a little concerned , however ,looking back at my chart for Heather, it was exactly the same for that week during my pregnancy with her .It seems amazing that our bodies are so inividually made and are programed to perform in the same way for a different pregnancy. So if this is so , I am hoping for a similar delivery to what I had the first time round!!!!!! Please!!! Who knows really what will happen on the day, at the end of it all , we are all hoping for a safe delivery and a healthy baby.I have another appointment now in 2 weeks time and from there on it will be weekly.Time is really flying in now and the new arrival will be here before we know it.

Yes it's still raining and Heather is still enjoying the puddles!!!

Peachland vacation

So now that May is here and it seems as though we have been in winter since October ,we decided to take some time off and seek out some warmer weather. Some sunshine and some water that you could paddle in and actually float your boat ,instead of it sitting on ice.The weather was warmer in Peachland ,the flowers were in bloom and we all started to relax.Heather was excited to test out the sand and the water.

here we go!!!

uhhh!! that was cold!!

We also enjoyed small hikes . Heather did her first full hike and was determined to walk all the way,no help from us .The helmet ,FYI ,was to stay on most of that day ,as she became quite attached to it and insisted that it stay on her head!! Not sure how long that phase will last for!!

Ahhh!! This is the life.

Canoe trips ,quiet beaches, picnics on the beach and a little sunshine for the soul . Just what was needed for the end of ,what has felt like, a long ,snowy winter. We returned in good spirits ,recharged and ready to prepare for the arrival of the new baby in 8 weeks time

The start of Canmore spring in May

The first week of May brought the start of spring and a new snow fall.It snowed and snowed and snowed for 24 hrs and in the morning we woke up to 2 feet of the white stuff .Heather wanted to go out and explore and got so excited when she "...house....I find it....",to her relief, she also found the play park and slide.Just as well mum and dad were there as we may have lost Heather too.Without saying much else ,the morning was spent shovelling snow to gain access to the house and also to find the car before the snow plough burried it completely.

Heather enjoyed showing Granny how to do art work and her speciality in face painting "look Granny how pretty I look" but was distracted by the taste of the paint.I do feed this kid ....honestly!!!! Just that she gets bored at the dinner table ,the real food just doesn't have the same as the colourful paint

Granny and Dah dah's visit

Granny and grandad gunn visited in April to see Heather and Grandad was quickly put to work in the garage to earn his keep. They said that they were putting up dry wall ,but I'm thinking that they were having way more fun than that..."who dropped the bomb"
