Spring was on its way?

As the days are getting longer, the sun stays in the sky for longer before falling behind the mountains and the weather is warming up to just above zero by the afternoons. It has been great to get Heather and Finlay out to the park before dinner time. Heather was a little reluctant at first just because it has been a while since she has been to the park, but the thought of pushing Finlay on the swings soon changed her mind. Finlay has enjoyed his first ride on a swing and Heather enjoyed pushing him. She also enjoyed climbing and sliding and posing like a "pop star" with her new sun glasses !!!

We were all excited about the thought of spring on the way.

The next day we woke up to it snowing. James shoveled the pavement before breakfast and then I shoveled it again before lunch !!! The temperature was -10 and Heather wanted to go skating !!! Well, as we hadn't taken her skating since xmas, we thought that we would give it a go, especially as she was actually asking to go, instead of being taken.

We drove down to the local pond and Heather was excited to see a tractor blowing the snow off the ice, we sat on the bench, with the whole pond to ourselves.....surprisingly !!!

The pond to ourselves.

Wave for the camera !!!

The following day we woke up to it snowing again, temperature now -19 with a wind chill of -26. My skate skiing lesson has been cancelled ...Finlay has been booked into day care for 2 hours and Heather, the whole day....James is not working (due to the weather)....what shall we do?......Well, why don't we go XC skiing anyway !!!!!
We had a great time and enjoyed the place to ourselves, only seeing one other mad skier and enjoyed the ease of skiing without towing....however, breaking trail was a work out in itself.

No photos, I'm afraid, due to freezing temperatures !!!!

Pizza Factory !!!

Hells kitchen !!!

We had some friends for dinner at the weekend and we decided to do something simple that everybody would enjoy with minimum effort. So we decided to have a pizza building night. We gave the kids the pizza bases and a selection of yummy toppings and they all set to work, while us parents sat back with a beer looking on with amusement while the kids created dinner for us all !! And they did a splendid job. Heather was so excited and sat on her little green chair in front of the oven while it cooked.

Now for the test....

Mmmmmm ?

Yes!! I think that hits the spot!!!!

They did a marvellous job and the pizzas were very tasty..."Thanks for dinner you guys!!!!"

Fun Playing Together

Finlay had his immunizations last week and weighed 13 lb 8 oz. Many people look at Finlay and say how much bigger he is compared to when Heather was that age, however he is only 2 lb heavier than she was at the same age and is on the 25 th percentile for his weight...saying that, Heather has always been on the 3rd percentile or below and even now only weighs just over 22 lbs!!! So there you have it James and I breed little bundles of joy!!!

Week by week the interaction is increasing and Heather and Finlay enjoy spending time together and are now starting to have interest in the same toys, not doing the same thing, but definitely responding to each other. Heather loves to show Finlay how things work and how it's supposed to be and Finlay just enjoys getting his hands on anything that moves or makes a noise. I find myself appreciating this stage, for before I know it, Heather will be building and Finlay will be destroying and that will be when the real 'fun and games' begin.

Face Painting Fun

Bottomley Potts covered in spots.

It seems to be that every time we go to a function with face painting we are either too late or the cue is too long. So it was lucky that Granny felt sorry for Heather and sent us a face painting kit, encouraging mum and dad to get their artistic shoes on!!!
Now Heather loves the Jungle Book and has a little book on tigers, so she was keen to be a tiger for the day. Heather also loves Hairy Maclaray stories and is beginning to say the story as we read it to her, she loves the names of the dogs in the story and on this occasion spent the day as "Bottomley Potts"

Happy To Be Together
