Bath time
Heather loves to help Finlay have a bath in the evening before her dinner.
I have found that Finlay is getting tired at around 5.30 and is sometimes ready for bed at 6-6.30. This has enabled me to give Finlay a bath while Heather is having her dinner, however, more often than not, she enjoys helping to bath her little brother.......We pack him off to bed and then we can have dinner and quiet time together.

Sleep through the night....yeh right!!!!
My spirited little Finlay boy seems to get into a lovely routine and then at a drop of a hat changes it as he pleases...After about a week of almost sleeping through the night, he is now waking at 0100 and 0530. This is by no means bad, but I was getting excited and thinking I had a perfect sleeper at such a young age. Whether it is a growth spurt (that is the biggest excuse us mothers use for our babies not sleeping) or whether thats just the way he wants it for just now.Perhaps he misses his mummy, now that he is in his own room!!!! We shall see and I will keep on hoping that in the next few weeks he decides to sleep through the night again.

Falling leaves
Sleep.......through the whole night!!!!!
By the end of Finlay's 11th week he started to sleep through the night......right through the night from 7pm through to 5.30 ish, with a quick feed then straight through to 9am. The first couple of nights this happened, I was waking up and waiting for him to stir to be fed.....but he never did. This is fantastic, because now I can get myself up and organised in time for Heather to wake and then I can have time to get her dressed and fed and spend some individual time with her.
Soon after this happened, he missed out the 5.30 feed and slept right to 7.30.
He is now 10lb 8oz at eleven weeks and is becoming more responsive and interactive every day. Full of smiles and stories. He has settled to be a content and happy wee boy and we are thrilled that he is interacting with the rest of his family.
Autumn fun
The arrival of Granny brought some lovely fall weather, with clear blue skies, fresh cold mornings and warm afternoons with temperatures reaching above 20 degrees. This lovely weather allowed us to really appreciate the Autumn colours and we had ample opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities.
We spent alot of this week outdoors. Heather enjoyed walks round the river, picnics in the park, hikes up Heart creek and round Lake Louise and we even got Granny on a bike!!!!
Heather is becoming increasingly independent and this week we saw a great increase in her confidence in the water at her swimming class. Usually she is reluctant to stay in the water for much more than 20 mins, mainly because Canmore pool is kept quite cold due to the competitive swimming which takes place there. Often we go to the pool and Heather asks to go to the hot tub straight away, and we do.... after 20 mins of subtle distraction. However, this round, thanks to someone who has observed the children's chins and cheeks being a slightly cyanosed colour and also that the parents who take their kids swimming seem to spend more time in the hot tub with them than in the pool, the temperature of the water has been increased to a suitable level for children to enjoy their time playing in the pool.....much to the disgust of the competitive swimmers!!! However Heather can now relax and enjoy her time in the pool. She now has the confidence to jump from the side into our arms and be dunked under when coming off the slide.
